Welcome to my portfolio, my name is Scott May, a 3D Technical Artist specializing in pipeline. I create assets and develop tools to help fellow artists work more efficiently, both in improving their own workflow and smoothing out the challenges of passing their work to the next artist in a project.
The animation and VFX industry is vast, and no single artist can hope to master all its roles alone. My goal is to bridge the technical gaps in a pipeline which slow collaboration, so artists can easily pool their strengths to accomplish artistic goals greater than one can achieve on their own.

Drawing upon my technical experience to create is one of my greatest passions. In my artistic studies creating 3D character and environment assets, I frequently found myself compelled to implement procedural systems to accomplish my goals. I need to spend hours placing feathers in a wing shape? Why not use a curve and some math? After several hours of researching and node wrangling, I have a wing that’s better than one I could have placed by hand. I can swap out the feathers with whatever I want, change the shape however I want, or even give the tool to someone else to create whatever wing they want. To me, these systems are more than one solution of many, they’re professional approaches to solving recurring problems, leaving room for creative adaptation and ensuring no work is wasted.
